HOSTING AN ARTSLINK FELLOW

Information for Arts Organizations

US non-profit organizations are invited to apply for an award to host an international artist or arts manager selected through ArtsLink. Residencies awards provide funding to cover the living, working and materials costs for the ArtsLink Fellow’s residency, as well as modest administrative expenses for the host. The next residency period will be mid October through mid November 2012.

In 2012, ArtsLink Fellows are artists and arts managers working in visual and media arts who have been selected by US arts professionals in a highly competitive peer review process. ArtsLink eliminates the administrative and logistical tasks associated with hosting an international visitor by arranging visas, organizing and paying for international and domestic travel and hosting an orientation and a concluding session in New York. During the five-week residency, ArtsLink staff is available to advise host organizations.

Interested organizations should review the list of 2012 Fellows which will be available on our website by April 1. Contact ArtsLink staff for further information and to determine the availability of the artist or arts manager in whom you are interested. In some cases, ArtsLink Fellows have already developed relationships with specific US organizations. ArtsLink has also developed ongoing associations with a number of organizations interested in international exchange. ArtsLink solicits host sites for particular ArtsLink Fellows and responds to requests for residency support. If you have not previously hosted an ArtsLink Fellow, please prepare a letter of interest as outlined below by June 1, 2012.

Letter of Interest

The letter of interest should specify which ArtsLink Fellows you are interested in hosting in order of preference or which discipline would be appropriate to your organization if your first choices are unavailable. A brief description of facilities, equipment and resources that will be made available to the Fellow should be included, as well as a short descriptions of past international residencies at your organization. Please attach to the letter of interest the mission statement of your organization and a sampling of publicity materials.

Review & Notification

In considering your letter, ArtsLink staff will evaluate the extent to which your organization can address the specific needs and professional practice of the ArtsLink Fellow(s) you wish to host. ArtsLink staff will interview those organizations that might potentially meet the needs of particular ArtsLink Fellows. These organizations will be asked to complete a simple application and a budget. ArtsLink staff will consult with potential hosts regarding all placement decisions and with arts professionals familiar with residency programs and/or the region. Organizations that have submitted a letter of interest will be notified by August 1, 2012.
